ABOUT GLOPPEN MUSIKKFEST

Gloppen Musikkfest (GMF) is one of the few festival focusing on classical chamber music of its kind in Gloppen, in Nordfjord, and the region - formerly Sogn og Fjordane. The first festival was held in 2003 and has since developed steadily. It has been pointed out as a cultural lighthouse in the county.

The festival aims is to give the audience a first-class experience of classical chamber music, and do our part in giving this genre a place in our region.

GMFs arena spreads throughout the whole county, but we have always had, and will continue to have Gloppen as our base. With good access to a professional environment, partners, good premises, and a loyal audience, Gloppen is a solid municipality for festivals and a large regional center in cultural life

Gloppen Musikkfest has for many years had artistic direction from cellist Audun Sandvik, from 2021 together with viola player Ida Klokk-Bryhn. These are among Norway's foremost chamber musicians with international work and are both group leaders in the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra. Hence, we have great confidence that the upcoming festivals can build on what has been established, and at the same time review ourselves.

We strive to make our activities must create “ripples in the water”. This contributes we have prioritized measures that contribute to the development of the field outside of the festival days themselves, and we arrange several individual concerts, tours, and seminars in the region throughout the year.

THE FESTIVAL

Our main activity is the annual chamber music festival,  and in 2023 the festival is held from the 5th to the 9th of September
